The vision for ISMAR 2009 is to capture the entire breadth and depth of Mixed and Augmented Reality from idea to innovation, from art to science, from research to commercialization, beginning now and into the future. As an emerging technology, developments are happening rapidly and ISMAR is the premier conference for all the participants in this exciting field to share with one another and to learn about the latest developments.

At ISMAR 2009 we are not just mixing virtual and physical reality, we are melting boundaries between disciplines, generations, cultures and industries. There is something to learn from all aspects of the technology, human impact and economic potential. We want to expand the scope and the relevance of this field beyond a select few; we want to share it with the world. We do not want to constrain the excitement surrounding this field into just one week, but rather to have it engage the participants year round. In conjunction with ISMAR 2009, we are launching the ISMAR-Society website to assist in dissemination, dialogue and development of new advancements in the art, science and business of Mixed and Augmented Reality.

Our General Co-Chairs come from completely different backgrounds, but they share the same spirit and the goal of stimulating the next generation of technology, talent and techniques evolving from all corners of the world. Join us for the beginning of the second decade.
